Definite & General Purpose Manual Motor Starters

Available19 products
Definite and general purpose manual motor starters are manually operated motor controllers with specific operating performance specifications designed for applications like HVACR. Also known as DP manual motor starters, they can be cost-effective alternatives to IEC and NEMA motor starters in applications with lower life-cycle requirements. Manual motor starters open and close circuits to small motors, machinery, and electrical systems and help protect them from damage caused by overheating, low voltage, and overcurrent. These manually operated motor starters combine contactors, overload relays, and disconnect switches to connect and disconnect electrical loads safely.

Non-Reversing Starters with Thermal Overloads

Non-Reversing Starters with Thermal Overloads

These non-reversing definite and general purpose manual motor starters with thermal overload relays connect and disconnect power to motors and other high-current equipment and machinery in a single direction. Thermal overloads, also known as heaters, prompt motor starters to break electrical connections with downstream equipment once a set temperature is reached to protect connected loads from overheating and causing damage. They contain either bimetallic strips or melting alloy solder materials. When the current exceeds a predetermined threshold and temperatures rise, the material bends or liquefies, causing the thermal unit to break the circuit and cause the motor starter to break its power contacts. As the materials cool down, they will return to their normally closed position and the circuit can be reset automatically or manually.

Enclosed Non-Reversing Starters with Thermal Overloads

Enclosed Non-Reversing Starters with Thermal Overloads

These non-reversing definite and general purpose manual motor starters with thermal overloads have enclosures that protect their internal components from impacts, debris, and dust. Non-reversing motor starters connect and disconnect power to motors and other high-current equipment and machinery in a single direction. Thermal overload relays, also known as heaters, prompt motor starters to break electrical connections with downstream equipment once a set temperature is reached. They are made of either bimetallic strips or solder-type materials and change shape as electrical current increases and temperatures rise. As the material changes shape, it opens and closes contacts that signal motor starters to disconnect power and prevent connected loads from overheating and causing damage.
