Actuator Style

Diaphragm are single-acting devices that respond to pressure changes on one side of the diaphragm. They can also be configured as direct-acting, where contacts close as pressure increases, or reverse-acting, where contacts close as pressure decreases.
Piston can operate as single-acting or double-acting devices and handle high-input pressures. Pistons are suitable for high-speed applications and are compact to fit inside smaller cylinders. They are used in applications when a diaphragm actuator is too short or doesn't create the necessary thrust.
Transducer provide digital output signals, integrate into digital control systems, and don't have any moving parts. Electronic transducers might not be suitable for high-pressure applications or high temperatures compared to electromechanical switches.

This represents the port type where the pressure source connects with the device. FNPT represents female-threaded connections, MNPT represents male-threaded connections, FNPS represents straight (non-tapered) female connections, and NPSF represents straight (non-tapered) male connections. The numerical values in parentheses represent the number of pressure connections a device has.

Hazardous Location Specification

Class I, Div 1, Group A, B, C, D are for hazardous locations where flammable gases or vapors may be present during normal operations. Class I hazards are commonly found in petroleum refineries, fuel dispensaries, sewage treatment plants, and processes using chemicals, paints, coatings, or sealants. This rating indicates the electrical device is suitable for use with the following hazardous materials: Group A (acetylene), Group B (hydrogen, butadiene, ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, and acrolein), Group C (ethylene, cyclopropane, and ethyl ether), and Group D (acetone, ammonia, benzene, butane, ethanol, gasoline, hexane, methane, methanol, naphtha, natural gas, propane, and toluene).
Class II, Div 1, Group E, F, G are for hazardous locations where combustible dust is present during normal operations. Class II hazards are commonly found in pharmaceutical factories, coal-handling plants, grain elevators, and plants processing flour, feed, or powder. This rating indicates the electrical device is suitable for use with the following hazardous materials: Group E combustible dust (aluminum, commercial alloys, and magnesium), Group F combustible dust (carbon black, charcoal, coal, and coke dust), and Group G combustible dust (chemicals, flour, grain, plastic, and wood).
Not Rated identifies that the electrical device has not been tested for use in hazardous locations.
