Motor lead disconnects are plug-and-socket connectors that snap together to create tight connections between motors and power and ground sources without bolting or taping wires. Also known as motor pigtail connectors, they consist of a male disconnect with an extended terminal and a female disconnect with a receptacle where the male motor lead inserts. Each disconnect has a barrel with a color-coded band and markings that identify where to compress and which die component and tool are necessary to create a solid, uniform bond between the cable and disconnect. Additionally, insulation boots and plastic insulation housing can be added to help condense the assembly's size and protect the connection from short circuits, deterioration, and corrosion damage.
