General Use

Shrouded

Shrouded electrical devices have covers around their pins or sockets. Shrouds protect contacts from physical damage and help prevent accidental touch with live currents when connecting and disconnecting devices.

Cap Type

No Cap or Cover indicates the electrical device doesn't have a cap or cover.
Press-On Cap squeezes around the electrical device's rim, making an airtight seal to cover and secure its openings. These caps open and close by hand.
Spring-Loaded Cap indicates the electrical device has a spring-loaded cap that self-closes over the electrical device's opening when not in use.

IP Rating

Not Rated refers to enclosures that have not been tested for ingress protection.
IP20 protects against contact with fingers or similar objects greater than 12.5mm. It does not protect against liquids.
IP30 protects against contact with tools and wires greater than 2.5mm. It does not protect against liquids.
IP65 is dust-tight and protects against water jets from any direction.
IP66 is dust-tight and protects against powerful water jets projected from any direction.
IP67 is dust-tight and withstands immersion in water for up to 30 minutes to a depth of 1m.
IP69K is dust-tight and protects against high-pressure, hot-temperature water jets from any direction at close ranges. IP69K provides the highest ingress protection and is suitable for applications where regular washdowns, steam-cleaning, and sanitization procedures take place.
