Hazardous Location Conduit Unions, Expansion Unions & Nipples

Available1 product

These unions, expansion unions, and nipples join pieces of heavy-wall RMC and medium-wall IMC metal conduit together, or join electrical boxes and enclosures in hazardous industrial locations, such as petroleum refineries, gasoline storage areas, and petrochemical facilities. They form a tight seal to protect wire and cable in areas where flammable gases, vapors, powdered metals, or dust is present.

Expansion Union - Conduit to Box

Expansion Union - Conduit to Box
These expansion unions connect threaded RMC and IMC conduit to electrical boxes and have a telescoping piston that extends and retracts to compensate for length changes of conduit. One end screws onto the conduit, and the other inserts into the box and is held in place with a locknut. These unions are often used where there are large fluctuations in temperature, which can cause conduit to expand and contract. These unions are suitable for use in hazardous locations where flammable gases, vapors, powdered metals, or dust is present.
