There are two types of electrical tape, each with two distinct uses. Insulating electrical tape wraps around wire and cable to prevent shock. Conductive electrical tape bonds and connects circuits for point-to-point electrical contact. It is also used for grounding and for shielding electrical components from unwanted signals that come from electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI).
