Gasket Sealants & Adhesives

Gasket sealants and adhesives reinforce the seal of an existing gasket and secure it in place during assembly. Gasket sealants, also called gasket dressings, help prevent fluids and gases from leaking through the existing gasket at flanged joints, often as a result of pressure or movement. Gasket adhesives bond an existing material gasket to the surface to keep it in place when joining components. While gasket adhesives typically do not have sealing properties, they are useful in vertical or overhead applications to prevent material gaskets from moving during assembly.

Oil-Resistant Gasket Sealants
These gasket sealants have higher oil resistance than standard gasket sealants and reinforce the seal around a gasket in equipment such as transmission pans and valve covers.

Oil- & Gasoline-Resistant Gasket Sealants
These gasket sealants, also known as Hylomar, have high resistance to both oil and gasoline, in addition to industrial fluids such as coolants. They do not cure and harden allowing for unlimited assembly and adjustment time, and for dismantling equipment for servicing. They are often used for flat, machined surfaces such as inlet manifolds, timing case covers, and transmission components.

Gasket Adhesives
Gasket adhesives bond an existing material gasket to the surface to keep it in place when joining components. While gasket adhesives typically do not have sealing properties, they are useful in vertical or overhead applications to prevent material gaskets such as cork, paper, or rubber from moving during assembly.
