Sanding sponges have an abrasive applied to a flexible sponge for finish sanding and light stock removal. Sponges are easier to handle than individual sandpaper sheets. Sponges are less likely to clog than sandpaper sheets and can be washed or rinsed when they become dirty. The flexible backing provides a consistent, even finished surface.
