Electric-shock protection mats safeguard workers from injuries caused by high-voltage electrical discharge. Sometimes called switchboard mats, these nonconductive mats protect against shock by preventing the worker from being grounded if an electrical discharge occurs. These mats are used in high-voltage areas where electrical fuse boxes, transformers, or high-voltage boxes are placed.
